Programme to train nurses in advanced patient care
The state government has introduced a one-year Post Basic Diploma course in nursing to train staff in providing specialised care for specific diseases and medical conditions. The course will be offered in eight disciplines, including critical care, emergency and disaster management, neonatal care, orthopaedics and rehabilitation, burns and reconstructive care, cardiology, oncology, and psychiatry.
Applications for the course are open until November 21, 2025, and candidates can apply through the respective nursing or medical college websites. Admissions will follow prescribed guidelines.
Open to staff from state government and GMERS-run institutions as well as other eligible candidates, the programme focuses on hands-on training and patient-centred care.
Officials said the initiative aims to enhance the skills of nursing staff across the state, ensuring better-quality healthcare and more efficient treatment for patients.
