Following the recent car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort, security measures have been intensified in Ahmedabad, with police teams carrying out late-night vehicle checks across the city for the past two days.
Authorities have also taken action against hotel and property owners who rented out rooms or houses without notifying the police. Several hotels were inspected, and cases were registered against owners and managers who failed to record guest details in the Pathik software.
Police teams conducted surprise checks at residential and commercial properties, booking individuals who rented out premises illegally without prior intimation. Over 25 such offences were registered in a single night.
A senior police official said offences have been filed against hotel operators and landlords for violating public notification rules, and further investigation is underway.
The official added that previous investigations revealed several terror suspects had stayed in hotels and flats under fake identities, prompting the joint operation by the local police, Crime Branch, Special Operations Group, and City Crime Branch.
