The Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN), in collaboration with Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, hosted the Chemical Engineering Symposium (ChES 2025) recently, at the Jibaben Patel (Kanisa) Memorial Auditorium, IITGN. The symposium was themed “Driving Industrial Innovation through Academic Collaboration: Bridging Innovation and Engineering for a Better Tomorrow.”
The event brought together leading industry experts, entrepreneurs, and academicians to explore new pathways for research-driven industrial growth and sustainable technological advancement in India.
The day-long symposium featured invited talks, a panel discussion, a poster and startup showcase, and a hands-on workshop on Energy Assessment and Carbon Footprint Reduction in Chemical Industries.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr Vimal Mishra, Dean (R&D), IITGN; Dr Sameer Dalvi, Smt Meera and Prof Girish K Sharma Chair Professor and Dr Chinmay Ghoroi, B. S. Gelot Chair Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IITGN along with eminent guests.
Prominent speakers included Smt Aashish Kasad (National Leader, Chemicals and Agriculture Sector, Ernst & Young), Shri K R Venkatadari (Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Chemicals), Dr Siva M Sivaramakrishnan (Chief Innovation Officer, OmniActive Healthcare Technologies), and Dr Vanita Prasad (Founder and CTO, Revy Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd).
The symposium also featured research presentations from IITGN and SVNIT faculty, including talks on advanced nanomaterials, biopolymer applications, drug delivery systems, and AI-enabled wastewater treatment.
A key highlight was the panel discussion on “Interdisciplinary Approach in Solving Industrial Problems”, moderated by Dr Kaustubh Rane, Associate Professor, IITGN. The discussion emphasized the need for strong academic–industry partnerships to accelerate India’s chemical sector towards a Viksit Bharat.
The event concluded with poster awards and lab visits, offering participants a first-hand look at IITGN’s advanced research facilities.
