Eight private universities from Gujarat have been listed among 54 defaulters across the country by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for failing to comply with public disclosure norms.
The institutions include Gandhinagar University, JG University, KN University, MK University, Transstadia University, Plastindia International University (Valsad), Surendranagar University, and Teamlease Skills University (Vadodara).
According to the UGC circular issued on Friday, the listed universities have not uploaded mandatory public self-disclosure details on their websites, as required under guidelines notified on June 10, 2024. The norms mandate that higher education institutions maintain functional websites with easily accessible information—placed prominently on the homepage with a search facility.
The commission further stated that universities were also required to submit detailed information and supporting documents under Section 13 of the UGC Act, 1956, within the stipulated period, which these institutions failed to do.
