The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is gearing up to place environmental sustainability at the core of its 2026-27 budget. Guided by the Ahmedabad Climate Resilient City Action Plan – Towards Net Zero Future 2070, the civic body aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening revenue streams.
Key focus areas include energy-efficient buildings, sustainable transport, improved wastewater systems, stormwater management, urban greening, and air quality enhancement. Departments have been asked to submit revised 2025-26 estimates and fresh projections for the upcoming fiscal year.
Alongside its climate goals, the budget will prioritize boosting both tax and non-tax revenue, addressing the gap between Ahmedabad’s rapid growth and rising expenditure.
