Smriti Mandhana produced a dazzling knock at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, scoring her 12th ODI century in the second match of the series against Australia on Wednesday, September 17. She reached her hundred in just 77 balls — the second-fastest by an Indian woman in ODIs, behind her own 70-ball effort earlier this year against Ireland.
The innings also saw Mandhana set a new benchmark for Indian women’s cricket, becoming the highest run-scorer in a calendar year with 803 runs from 13 innings, surpassing Deepti Sharma’s 787 runs in 2017.
Put in to bat, the elegant left-hander raced to her fifty off 45 balls with a towering six against Georgia Wareham and sealed her century with a boundary off Tahlia McGrath in the 29th over.
The milestone keeps Mandhana in elite company. She now has 12 ODI hundreds, equalling Tammy Beaumont at third place on the all-time list, behind only Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (12). She also reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings earlier this month.

Dominance against Australia Mandhana also became the Asian batter with the most ODI centuries against Australia (3), moving ahead of Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu. She now shares the second spot overall with New Zealand’s Suzie Bates, behind England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who leads with four.
With this knock, Mandhana further stamped her place among the modern greats of women’s cricket, carrying India’s charge with both flair and consistency.
