A unique initiative is urging organisers to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable practices during Navratri celebrations.Over the years, festivals have often led to piles of waste, pollution and environmentally harmful practices. To counter this, Harit Navratri—launched in 2022 by Gyanprakash Charitable Trust and Project Ahmedabad—promotes celebrating in harmony with nature while reviving traditional practices.
This year, Treewalks Ahmedabad has joined as an organising partner to add eco-conscious lifestyle awareness to the campaign. Participants are encouraged to eliminate single-use plastics, use reusable or biodegradable décor, set up water stations with steel glasses, and incorporate natural crafts. The initiative also promotes composting, food gardening and toxin-free living at home.
How to Participate
Housing societies, schools and organisations can register for the Harit Navratri competition with a fee of ₹500. Winners, selected across categories, will be featured in Ahmedabad Mirror.For registration, contact: 9537208314.
