A 19-year-old tuition teacher in Surat died by suicide after being allegedly blackmailed by a youth with whom she had a physical relationship. Investigations revealed that the victim had also undergone an abortion.
The case surfaced after community leader Vijay Mangukiya wrote to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, demanding justice. Following this, an FIR was lodged at Singanpor police station.
In court on Thursday, the complainant’s advocate submitted that the victim’s phone had been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The FSL report recovered Gmail chats between the victim and the accused, referencing their relationship, pregnancy, and abortion. Police said the accused allegedly used these conversations to blackmail her, driving her to suicide.
The matter will be heard next on September 1.
