HDFC Bank Parivartan impacts 5000 individuals through sport till date

On National Sports Day, observed in honour of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, HDFC Bank Parivartan is celebrating the power of sport to inspire and uplift. The Bank’s CSR initiatives are helping 38 women athletes chase their dreams, improving local sports facilities and encouraging more young people to participate in sport. The Bank has impacted over 5000 individuals through sport till date.

Supporting Athletes

Through its partnership with GoSports Foundation, HDFC Bank launched Unstoppable – Karke Dikhaungi (UKD) in 2022 to empower women athletes. Since its inception in 2022, the UKD programme has supported 38 female athletes across six disciplines: Weightlifting, Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, Archery, and Table Tennis. These athletes have collectively achieved remarkable success, winning a total of 204 medals, including 97 gold, 56 silver, and 51 bronze. Among these, 36 medals were earned at international competitions, showcasing their global caliber.

By providing holistic support such as training, sports science education, competition exposure and financial assistance, this programme is attempting to break barriers and build a new generation of female role models in Indian sport.

The Bank also works with Foundation for Promotion of Sports and Games to support Indian athletes through various training and development programmes, including funding, equipment, and sports science. The initiative includes both senior and junior athletes with the potential to win Olympic medals, with a particular focus on identifying para-athletes.

Revamping Sports Infrastructure

Complementing its work in athlete development, HDFC Bank Parivartan is upgrading sports facilities at the grassroot level in multiple states including Assam, Haryana, Karnataka, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. This initiative is part of the Sports RISE project aimed at revitalising sports infrastructure and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities across India.

Most recently this June, the Bank, in partnership with Plan International, inaugurated the refurbished District Sports Stadium at Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, benefiting more than 2,500 individuals. The facility now includes a swimming pool, indoor courts, jogging track and solar lighting, creating opportunities for the local community to actively participate in sports.

In Haryana, the Bank supported the upgradation of Tau Devi Lal Stadium and Gymkhana Club in Panchkula, now home to a 10-lane shooting range, fencing gear, an obstacle course and enhanced swimming facilities. In Karnal, the PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School in Nilokheri has also been revitalised with new badminton and basketball courts, a boxing ring, solar-powered facilities, and a fully equipped Sports Resource Centre.
