The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced a Rs 38-crore makeover for the 132-feet Ring Road stretch between Keshavbaug Junction and Pakwan Crossroad in the North-West Zone. Of this, nearly Rs 5 crore will be spent on decorative lighting alone.Approved by AMC’s Road and Building Committee, the project takes inspiration from the successful “iconic road” developed from Airport Circle to Indira Gandhi Bridge. Encouraged by public response, AMC now plans seven such projects citywide.The Bodakdev ward stretch will feature wider carriageways, landscaped footpaths, decorative benches, dust-free corridors, pedestrian-friendly zones, and organized parking. A key highlight is designer street lighting, for which Everest Multitech won the tender at Rs 4.98 crore—22% below the consultant’s estimate.AMC aims to transform the road into more than just a commute route—envisioning it as a lively public space where citizens can stroll, relax, and enjoy modern urban aesthetics.
