AMC says project will take 18 months; 1.5 lakh commuters hit dailyResidents, commuters, and shopkeepers in Ambawadi are facing daily chaos as construction of the Panjrapole Junction–IIM Road flyover continues, with no immediate relief in sight.With nearly 80% of the stretch barricaded for over six months, only narrow lanes remain open, leading to constant jams. At peak hours, vehicles crawl through bottlenecks while pedestrians and schoolchildren struggle to navigate dangerously close to traffic.Locals say life has become exhausting. “Even stepping out of our society is a struggle. Children are at risk every day,” said Ashish Joshi, a nearby resident. Business owners too complain of dwindling footfall and lack of parking, with many customers avoiding the area altogether.What frustrates citizens most is the uncertainty. “The road is fully barricaded, our clients can’t reach us, and no clear deadline has been given,” said office owner Shree Santosh Guru.AMC’s stanceDeputy Municipal Commissioner Mirant Parikh said the project is being executed with safety in mind. “The stretch is properly barricaded, and additional space will be created on both sides to reduce congestion. Boards displaying the timeline will soon be installed,” he assured, adding that the flyover is expected to be completed in around 18 months.
