Cutoff for general category jumps from 80 to 95 percentile; FABM set at 90 percentileThe Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has announced a sharp hike in its admission criteria for the flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and the PGP in Food and Agri-Business Management (FABM) for the 2026-28 batch.General category aspirants for the PGP course will now require a minimum 95 percentile in CAT-2025, along with at least 85 percentile in each section—Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability. This marks a steep rise from the earlier requirement of 80 overall percentile and 70 sectional percentile.For the PGP-FABM programme, the cutoff has been set at 90 percentile overall with a 70 percentile sectional score.IIMA will retain its two-step admission process. First, candidates meeting the CAT criteria will be shortlisted for an Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on a composite score that assigns 65% weightage to CAT and 35% to Application Rating (AR), which includes academics, work experience, and gender diversity.In the final selection, the weights will remain unchanged from last year: 50% for PI, 10% for AWT, 25% for CAT score, and 15% for AR.Prof. Karthik Sriram, Chairperson (Admissions, PGP & PGP-FABM), said the revised cutoffs aim to strengthen the quality of the candidate pool. Prof. Ranjan Ghosh, Chairperson (PGP-FABM), added that the FABM programme continues to be globally recognized and the higher entry benchmark will help attract top talent from diverse backgrounds.
