Delhi Public School–Bopal students from Classes IV to VII were treated to an unforgettable theatrical experience at the sixth edition of the AHA! International Theatre Festival for Children, held, at the Kanoria Art Centre. The festival is a global celebration of theatre, specifically designed for young audiences. The highlight of the event was a delightful clown performance titled “Job Less Job: A Whimsical & Interactive Clowning Spectacle,” presented by Red Thread Entertainment and enacted by acclaimed theatre artists Sagar and Shreeram from Mumbai.
Directed under the prestigious banner of Ranga Shankara, AHA, Bengaluru, this innovative play took a bold and refreshing approach to storytelling. Using minimal English and relying primarily on mime, exaggerated gestures, expressive visuals, and non-verbal cues, the performance wove a touching and humorous narrative that captivated young minds.
The story followed two vagabond clowns, Tinu and Kamala, who believe that “having no job is the job.” Their carefree lives take an unexpected turn when a mysterious job letter falls into a trash can, setting off a series of hilarious and magical adventures. As the clown rummages through bizarre objects, ranging from sticky balloons to rogue boxing gloves, they create scenes filled with chaos, charm, and surprise. The playful chemistry between the clowns, coupled with their comic timing and physical storytelling, had the students in splits while also prompting them to reflect on deeper themes like purpose, companionship, and the joy of discovery.
The memorable outing left students inspired, their minds abuzz with laughter, curiosity, and a newfound wonder for the world of theatre. Experiences like these nurture creativity, empathy, and a lifelong love for the arts, enriching students’ educational journeys beyond the classroom.
