In a strong counteroffensive to Pakistan’s drone assault on Indian territory, Indian forces have reportedly targeted strategic locations in Sialkot and Lahore. The retaliation comes hours after Pakistan launched loitering munitions at Jammu earlier on Thursday, prompting Indian air defence systems to respond with retaliatory fire.
Amid heightened tensions, a full blackout has been imposed across several regions in Jammu Division, including Kishtwar, Akhnoor, and the Jammu district itself. Sirens have been blaring across these areas as security forces remain on high alert.
This military response follows the recent Pahalgam terror incident, after which India had launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) using precision-guided strikes. The Indian government has reiterated that any provocation, particularly targeting military establishments, will be met with decisive retaliation.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated, “Pakistan’s escalation will be met with an appropriate and proportionate response — and that response is already underway.”
The situation remains fluid as both nations brace for further developments along the Line of Control and beyond.
