2 city schools receive CBSE notices

Nirman High School and The New Tulip International School face scrutiny over alleged enrolment irregularities.

Following surprise inspections F conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) last month, two Ahmedabad schools have been issued show-cause notices. Nirman High School and The New Tulip International School are among 29 schools across India facing scrutiny over alleged enrolment irregularities and non-compliance with CBSE norms.

The CBSE conducted surprise inspections on December 18 and 19, 2024, in schools across several states, including Gujarat. The inspections revealed that many schools, including the two in Ahmedabad, had violated CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws.

“The Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) conducted a series of surprise inspections in 29 schools across multiple locations on December 18 and 19, 2024. The inspections were carried out in schools in Delhi on December 18 and in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Patna Bihar), Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh), Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), and Ahmedabad (Gujarat) on December 19, 2024,” read the CBSE notice.

It continued, “Upon careful examination of the reports submitted by the inspection teams, it was observed that a majority of these schools had violated CBSE Affiliation Bye-Laws. Key violations identified include: Enrolment Irregularities: Instances of enrolling students beyond their actual attendance records, effectively endorsing “non-attending” enrolments. Non-compliance with Academic and Infrastructural Norims: Flouting CBSE guidelines for academsic and infrastructural standards”

Efforts by Mirror to reach the trustees, Ashish Desai of Nirman High School and Tejas Sridhar of The New Tulip International School, went unanswered.
