Annual MICANVAS was scheduled for this month.
The death of Priyanshu Jain, a second-year student of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), in an alleged road rage incident has led MICA to cancel its popular annual marketing festival, MICANVAS. The institute has also extended counselling services to ensure the mental well-being of students.
“The institute has decided to postpone the upcoming event MICANVAS MICA’s annual marketing festival, in light of the recent tragedy. The event was scheduled in November 2024. Το provide comfort and support to all students, MICA has extended the on campus counselor’s hours and availability. Additionally, counseling support is now accessible 24/7 via phone. The institute also has an online mental wellness partner through which students can take the counselling sessions in an online mode with the counsellor,” said Registrar, Shubhra Gaur at MICA.
Town hall meeting
Officials said that on the night of the incident, at 2 am, the Director and Registrar held a town hall meeting with the entire batch to assure them of the institute’s full support. “The following day, Director Jaya Deshmukh, Dean Githa Heggde and Registrar Shubhra Gaur addressed the students, faculty and staff, and assured them of support from the Foundation, the Governing Council and the Leadership Team,” officials said. “They also encouraged everyone to support each other.”
Peer support
“While the institute has provided great support to all of us during this time, we are also supporting each other and standing with our batch through this difficult time,” said Niharika Raheja, a MICA student council member. “At times, simply being there offers immense comfort and support.”
