Students of the National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, will showcase their bamboo lighting works in London as part of the London Design Festival (LDF).
The works include a bamboo installation inspired by blooming jasmine and the glow of a diya, another that reflects the energy of a courtyard fountain through bamboo, light and shadow, and a modular piece with gently swaying elements inspired by traditional oil lamps.
The installations will be displayed at OSA Studio’s exhibition under the theme “In-Between Thresholds”, which explores experiences in transitional spaces between stillness and movement, memory and the present, and presence and absence.
The projects were created during a four-week intensive bamboo lighting course at NID as part of Design Workshop-3. The course was guided and mentored by Prof Neha Mandlik, along with Subroto and Ranjith. The exhibition will give the students an opportunity to present their work on an international design platform.
