India have announced their 15-member ODI squad for the three-match series against the West Indies, with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to the side after a two-month break. Rohit’s place had come under scrutiny during India’s tour of England in July amid speculation over his future in the format. However, the veteran opener has retained his spot alongside captain Shubman Gill and Kohli. Rohit scored 11 and 26 in the first two ODIs in England before producing a stunning 137 in the series decider at Lord’s, although his effort came in a losing cause.
Rookie all-rounder Naman Dhir and pacer Auqib Nabi have received their maiden ODI call-ups, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has been withdrawn from the Asian Games squad to feature in the 50-over series. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has also been included in the ODI squad. Meanwhile, Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out of the Asian Games and the one-off T20I against Japan due to a side strain, with Vipraj Nigam named as his replacement.
India will have to manage a busy white-ball schedule, with several players travelling for the Asian Games T20I campaign during the West Indies home series. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will oversee the ODI team, while BCCI Centre of Excellence chief VVS Laxman will accompany the T20I squad to Japan.

Rishabh Pant, meanwhile, has been left out of India’s white-ball squads and will lead the Rest of India in the Irani Cup. Hardik Pandya has also not been selected for the India squads and is expected to return to competitive cricket after more than four months when he features for India A against Australia A in Puducherry on October 6, 9 and 11, subject to fitness clearance.
