The Ahmedabad traffic police have started installing speed radars at crucial intersections capable of measuring vehicle speeds and issuing instant fines if drivers exceed the established limits. a speed radar has been placed on the eastern side of the Sabarmati Riverfront. the advantage of using speed radar guns is allow for immediate e-challan issuance.
Several roads have already been assigned speed limits, and this information is being integrated into the AI software. For instance, if someone exceeds a 40 km/h or 50 km/h limit at night, the radar will automatically capture an image of the vehicle and generate a challan. The challan will be automatically delivered to the violators through data center.
These speed guns are operational for three hours during peak traffic times in the morning and evening. Besides the speed radars, many of the city’s junctions are equipped with high-powered AI software integrated into CCTV cameras, enabling speed detection.
