A thief stole 119 iPhones worth of Rs 77 lakh from a shop near Panjrapole Crossroads on IIM-A Road between Sunday and Monday night.
Gopal Panchal and Pradip Bhatt, ran a wholesale business of cellphones. They had two adjacent shops on the sixth floor of the Third Eye Vision Complex, which served as a storage hub for iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 inventory.
Around 7pm on Saturday, Apurva closed the shop, and his godown manager, Nilesh Shah, opened it for a short while, around 4.45pm on Sunday. Shah took 350 cellphones and closed the office around 5pm.
On Monday morning when Shah reached the office he saw someone had broken the lock. The shop had been ransacked, and Rs 63,500 cash in the safe had been stolen. Shah examined the shop and found that 72 iPhone 14s worth Rs 48.74 lakh and 37 iPhone 13s worth Rs 28.01 lakh had been stolen.
The Gujarat University police have registered a complaint of criminal trespassing and burglary against an unknown man and begun an investigation.
