Ahmedabad also saw light to moderate rain Thursday evening. Patan, Kutch, Sabarkantha, Mehsana, and the coastal districts of Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka also received rain.
With rain reported in parts of Gujarat on Thursday morning, the maximum temperature dropped as much as 6 degrees below normal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast of light to moderate rainfall across the state on Friday too.
Till Thursday evening, the state received rainfall in around 20 talukas with the highest in Vav of Banaskantha district (25 mm) followed by Tharad (12 mm) in the same district.
Ahmedabad city too recorded light to moderate rainfall Thursday evening. Other districts to witness rainfall were Patan, Kutch, Sabarkantha, Mehsana and coastal districts of Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka.
While Ahmedabad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius, which was 2.5 degrees below normal, Deesa recorded 31 degrees Celsius, which was 6 degrees below normal.
Surat recorded 31.7 degrees Celsius and Vadodara 33.4 degrees Celsius, both of which are 5 degrees below normal.
Bhavnagar and Bhuj recorded temperatures of 32.8 and 33 degrees Celsius, respectively, which were 4 degrees below normal.
“No large change in maximum and minimum temperatures during next 24 hours; thereafter, a rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius during subsequent four days very likely,” stated the IMD forecast for day and night time temperatures.
Rajkot was at 34.7 degrees Celsius, Gandhinagar recorded 34.5 degrees Celsius, Surendranagar 34.3, Kandla Airport 34.1, Bhavnagar and Keshod 32.8 degrees Celsius.
As per the weather department, the morning’s cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan is expected to result in light to moderate rain with thundershower on Friday in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch and Surat ; and in the districts of Saurashtra including Rajkot, Surendranagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, GirSomnath, Botad and Kutch.
