On Tuesday, Gujarat reported one death from Covid and 176 new cases. On Monday, the state recorded 118 new cases. However, the highest number of cases in the most recent surge remains 179, as reported on March 18.
Ahmedabad reported a new high of 89 positive cases in the last 24 hours, up from 83 cases reported on March 18.
According to sources, there has been a significant increase in Covid cases in Mehsana, which is higher than in other major cities in the state. On Tuesday, Mehsana reported 16 new cases, followed by 15 each in Rajkot and Surat. There were six new cases in Vadodara city, four in rural Gandhinagar, and four in rural Rajkot.
Three new Covid cases have been reported in Amreli, Navsari, Porbandar, and rural Surat. Furthermore, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, and Kheda reported two cases each on Tuesday, while rural Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Dahod, Dwarka, Junagadh city, Patan, and Surendranagar reported one case each.
On Tuesday, an 81-year-old man died of Covid in Bharuch, bringing the state’s Covid death toll to 11,048.
On March 21, the total number of active Covid cases in the state increased from 810 to 916. Three of these patients required ventilator support, while the remaining 913 were said to be in stable condition.
