Anvi Zanzarukiya, 13-year old from Surat, also known as ‘Rubber Girl’ received Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday ,24th January.
Anvi Zanzarukiya, a specially-abled girl with expertise in Yoga, was awarded the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi using ‘block chain technology. On ‘Rashtriya Balika Divas,’ she received an award and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh.
The award was given to 29 children out of 600 who applied to the central government’s Ministry of Women and Child Development. Among the 29 awardees, Anvi Zanzarukiya is the only girl from Gujarat. The Rashtriya Bal Puraskar is awarded to children aged 5 to 18 who have excelled in sports, social services, education, arts, culture, and courage.
Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel congratulated her for receiving the award She will be honoured at a state-level programme on Republic Day, January 26th, in the Gir Somnath district.
She started learning Yoga from the age of 11 years. In the last three years, she has won three gold medals and two bronze medals at national level yoga competitions. So far, she has competed in 42 yoga competitions and won 51 medals. She can do more than 112 asanas. She has also received over 2 lakh likes on social media.
She had undergone open heart surgery and she is suffering from mitral valve leakage at present. She has a disability in large intestine due to 21 trisomy and harsh spring disease. She has 75 percent mental disability. She also faces difficulty in speaking.
She had achieved a national award in the category of ‘creative child with disability’ by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, at the hands of president Ramnath Kovind.
