Supreme Court, The Bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Hrishikesh Roy and CT Ravikumar dismisses plea seeking deferment of NEET UG 2021 stating that merely for the convenience of some students appearing in multiple exams, NEET cannot be postponed. The plea filed through advocate Sumanth Nookala.
NEET for undergraduate courses for the year 2021 will be held as scheduled on September 12 after the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed petitions seeking a rescheduling of the exam.
The Supreme court was hearing petitions for rescheduling NEET on the ground that it is slated to be held in the midst of CBSE board improvement exams, compartment exams, other entrance exams.
CBSE Class 12th exam will be scheduled as Biology exam on September 6, Physics on September 9, two major science papers on the same week of NEET exam.
The Bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Hrishikesh Roy and CT Ravikumar said “If you have to appear in multiple exams, you have to make the choice,”
Supreme Court also state that it is not inclined to meddle too much into education matters since lakh of students will be affected by its orders.
The court said “We really need to lay down the extent of our judicial intervention. These students should burn the midnight oil and prepare. How much can we intervene as a court.”
The petitioner requested the Court to issue a direction to shift the medical entrance exam to a suitable date soon after the ongoing board/other competitive exams.
