Commuters in Ahmedabad will have to take alternative routes as the Chimanbhai Patel Bridge will remain closed to vehicular traffic for five hours on two consecutive nights, November 3 and 4, due to construction work linked to the Ahmedabad Metro project.
According to the Ahmedabad City Traffic Police, the closure is required to carry out structural strengthening and railing work on the bridge.
The bridge will remain closed from midnight to 5 am on November 3 and again from midnight to 5 am on November 4, 2026. Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and use the designated alternative routes during these hours.
The traffic police have issued separate diversion plans for light and heavy vehicles. Alternative routes for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers cover areas including Sabarmati, Vadaj, Gandhi Ashram, Gayatri Mandir, Chandkheda and Ranip. Separate routes have also been arranged for heavy vehicles.
Commuters have been urged to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the diversion routes to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and allow the construction work to be completed on schedule.
