Today marked a significant day in Gujarat as the HTAT exam took place across the state, including Ahmedabad. This crucial assessment aims to fill principal positions in 3,264 government schools.
With 37,414 candidates vying for just over three thousand positions, the competition is fierce. On average, there are about eleven candidates for each available role. Many of these hopefuls have been teaching for over five years and are now eager to advance their careers.
Despite their preparation over the last couple of months, candidates faced various challenges today. Several reported difficulties with logistics—some had to travel more than 200 kilometers to reach their exam centers. This added unnecessary stress on top of an already demanding day.
Candidates also expressed concerns about the hiring process itself; while they appreciate that exams are held, many feel recruitment delays hinder their progress. Nevertheless, driven by the opportunity to transition from teacher to principal, participants persevered through these obstacles and completed the exam.
