Travelers should check train statuses before embarking on journeys as several services in Gujarat are set to be affected. The South Eastern Railway is undertaking non-interlocking work at the Jharsuguda passenger yard, part of a remodeling project.
This construction will disrupt operations of long-distance trains passing through the Ahmedabad division. As a result, four specific train routes have been canceled, according to railway officials.
Details on Canceled Train Services
The affected trains include:
- 12949 Porbandar–Santaragachhi Express: Canceled on December 11
- 12950 Santaragachhi–Porbandar Express: Canceled on December 13
- 22905 Okha–Shalimar Express: Canceled on December 13
- 22906 Shalimar–Okha Express: Canceled on December 15
The ongoing remodeling and electronic interlocking (EI) works at Utran station are expected to affect train management until October 13. Consequently, some services in the Surat-Vadodara section will run later than scheduled or be altered across various days.
Additional Disruptions This Month
The Bhruach-Surat MEMU service will face cancellations completely on October 8, 9, and again on the 13th. On these dates, travelers should expect notable delays.
A traffic regulation from November 50 AM to January PM is also planned for October 8. During this time frame, five trains will experience significant disruptions. Among them are:
- The Sri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra–Bandra Terminus Swaraj Express: delayed by about one hour and twenty minutes.
Punctuality Challenges Ahead
This situation won’t improve quickly; similar delays and cancellations are expected throughout October due to ongoing projects. For instance, on October 9 between November AM and January PM, multiple services such as the Katra-Bandra Terminus express, along with others heading toward Surat and Vadodara stations will run behind schedule.
Mismatched expectations could lead many passengers questioning their travel plans: how can you ensure timely travel now? Adapting by checking updates regularly is critical during this period of transition.
The goal of developing Utran station into a satellite station aims not just for better handling but also for improved operational efficiency once complete renovations wrap up.
No doubt—passengers are feeling frustrated. Yet with each adjustment made now, future travel might become less complicated.
