The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has floated tenders for the preliminary design and survey work of a proposed 58-km Metro Phase 3 network aimed at improving connectivity across western Ahmedabad.
The proposed expansion will cover seven new corridors connecting several parts of west Ahmedabad. A total of 43 elevated Metro stations have been proposed across the network.
The seven proposed corridors are:
- Thaltej Village to Godhavi
- Shilaj Circle to Bhadrabad
- APMC to New Faisalnagar
- Vishalnagar West to Bapunagar North
- Naranpura to Nehrunagar
- Veer Savarkar Sports Complex to Arihantnagar
- Dudheshwar to Vadaj
After connecting central and eastern parts of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar through the existing Metro network, GMRC has proposed Phase 3 to extend services to western Ahmedabad.
Separate tenders have been issued for design, survey and other preliminary works for different sections of the proposed 58-km network. The project is expected to provide Metro connectivity to several residential, commercial and developing areas of the western part of the city.
