A couple allegedly created a ruckus and attacked police personnel at the SG Highway-1 Traffic Police Station in Ahmedabad while being served a notice in connection with an earlier case.
Police said the incident involved Jagmal Vaghela and his wife Tinkalben. The couple allegedly argued with police personnel while being served a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS in connection with a previously registered offence.
According to police, when female constable Bhumikaben asked the couple to sign the notice, they refused. The two then went to the police inspector’s chamber but allegedly refused to accept the notice even in the presence of the PI.
The PI asked them to provide their address. The couple reportedly handed over an identity card and said the notice could be sent to that address before leaving the chamber.
Constable allegedly bitten
Later, when police personnel went outside to collect the fingerprints of another accused in the case, the couple allegedly started arguing with them again.
Police alleged that Jagmal spat on constable Labhu’s shirt and threatened him, saying he should be prepared to face an atrocity case and referring to his alleged familiarity at Chandkheda and L Traffic Police stations.
When the couple allegedly began abusing the police personnel, female constable Bhumikaben tried to intervene. Police alleged that Tinkalben then bit the constable on her hand.
Police subsequently used necessary force to control the situation and registered a case against the couple under various provisions, including those related to obstructing a public servant in the discharge of official duty.
Further investigation is underway.
