The Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to extend the GST return filing deadlines for October 2026, citing the Diwali festive period.
GCCI said November would be a busy month for businesses due to increased festive demand, while many establishments traditionally remain closed until Labh Pancham. It noted that several GST filing deadlines, including those for GSTR-7, GSTR-8, GSTR-1, GSTR-5 and GSTR-6, fall between November 10 and 13.
The chamber has proposed extending these deadlines to a period between November 20 and 30 to give businesses additional time to complete their compliance requirements.
