A planned three-day bank strike across India has been postponed. The strike was set to occur from September 28 to 30, but discussions on Sunday night led to a change in plans.
The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) and the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) came to an agreement during a meeting that stretched into the late hours. The UFBU announced this decision via a circular issued just before midnight on September 27.
What’s next? A high-level committee will be established, combining members from both the IBA and UFBU. Their task? To address demands for recognizing Saturdays as official holidays.
This resolution comes as welcome news for many who rely on banking services. With talks still ongoing, it seems both sides are invested in finding common ground.
