School management associations in Gujarat on Wednesday sought a 7% annual increase in fee slabs, saying the slabs have remained unchanged for nine years. They also demanded the removal of minimum student requirements for urban grant-in-aid (GIA) schools, a 7-km restriction on new GIA school campuses and 100% staff recruitment before the next academic year.
Representatives of nearly 20 school management and other associations submitted their demands to Minister of State for Education Rivaba Jadeja, Additional Chief Secretary for Education Milind Torawane and Commissioner of Schools Anand Patel.
The associations sought a 7% annual fee revision under Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) guidelines, stating that the prolonged freeze in fee slabs has made it difficult for many schools to meet rising operational costs.
