On Friday evening, a thought-provoking discussion took place at Urmila Kailash Black Box with an all-women panel addressing the intersection of art and architecture in Ahmedabad. They explored how these elements shape local sensibilities and expressed hopes for future artistic directions. Urmila Kanoria, founder of the Kanoria Centre for Arts, shared her vision of establishing a space that celebrates diverse artistic expressions over the last four decades. Meanwhile, Jayshree Lalbhai reflected on her experiences renovating what is now the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, discussing her initial reluctance to part with personal artworks but ultimately recognizing their greater value when shared publicly.
Looking ahead, Meha Patel from Zydus Foundation announced plans for a new Sculptural Park set to open within two months. This initiative embodies her desire for more private collections accessible in public spaces, allowing everyone to engage with art on their terms.
