The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the death of Disha Salian, the former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, nearly six years after her death. The move follows the Bombay High Court’s September 2 order directing the central agency to conduct a fresh investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The FIR was registered after Salian’s father, Satish Salian, recorded his statement with the CBI. The agency is examining allegations and the roles of several individuals named in the complaint, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, actors Rhea Chakraborty, Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, along with former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh and police officer Sachin Waze, among others.
The Bombay High Court had ordered the CBI probe after pointing to several discrepancies in the earlier police inquiry, which had continued for years without an FIR being registered. The court said a fresh investigation was necessary to examine all aspects surrounding Salian’s death.
Salian died in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Malad. Mumbai Police had earlier treated the case as an accidental death inquiry and subsequently concluded that it was a case of suicide. The latest CBI investigation will now examine the circumstances of her death and the allegations raised by her family.
