Three schools in Ahmedabad and the Gandhinagar District and Sessions Court received bomb threats through emails, triggering panic among students, parents and staff.
The schools named in the threats include DPS Bopal, Udgam School in Thaltej and Zydus School in Vejalpur. Soon after the threats were received, police, bomb disposal squads and fire brigade teams rushed to the locations.As a precautionary measure, schools including Zydus were evacuated and students were sent home. Police teams carried out detailed checks of the premises. 108 ambulances and vehicles from the Prahladnagar fire station were also deployed as part of the security arrangements.
A similar bomb threat was received on the official email ID of the Gandhinagar District and Sessions Court. The court premises were evacuated and security teams conducted an immediate search.The latest threats come days after emails threatening to bomb the Gujarat High Court and Surat court were received. Following those incidents, Ahmedabad Cyber Crime and Surat Crime Branch arrested two people in connection with the threats.
Following the latest incident, the District Education Officer (DEO) issued instructions to schools across Ahmedabad to remain alert. School authorities have been asked to regularly check their official email accounts and immediately inform the police if they receive any threatening message.
Schools have also been directed to evacuate students safely and without panic and to fully cooperate with the police during the investigation.
