The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has suspended its special religious bus service from September 7 to 10 due to the ongoing rickshaw and taxi strike. The service, organised for devotees during Shravan Month and Paryushan Parva, will resume from September 11.
Religious Bus Service Suspended for Four Days
AMTS had planned to operate special non-AC buses from September 8 to help devotees visit temples and other religious sites in Ahmedabad and nearby areas. However, the rickshaw and taxi strike from September 7 to 10 led the transport body to temporarily put the service on hold.AMTS Committee Chairman Parag Naik said the religious bus service is organised every year for devotees during Shravan Month and Paryushan Parva.
Temple Tours to Restart on September 11
The special bus service will resume on September 11 and operate on designated routes covering several temples and religious sites.Buses will depart at 8.15 am and return at 4.45 pm after completing the temple darshan circuit.
Bookings Available at Four AMTS Termini
Devotees can book the service from the Laldarwaja, Sarangpur, Vadaj and Maninagar termini.
The fare for citizens within Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits is ₹3,000 per bus, while those within AUDA limits will have to pay ₹5,000.Applicants must submit a copy of their property tax bill along with the completed booking receipt. Each bus has 30 seats, though arrangements have been made to accommodate up to 40 passengers.
Temples and Religious Sites Covered
The special routes will cover several temples and religious places, including Hathisingni Wadi-Madhupura, Rajpur-Gomtipur, Padmavati Mataji-Naroda, Koba, Tapovan-Motera, Merudham Tirth, Oganaj, Sherisa, Gokul Dham, Godhavi, Bakrol, Sarkhej, Hathijan and Prernatirth.Other destinations include Adeshwar Jain Temple in Shahpur, Jag Vallabh Parshvanath on Relief Road, Haripura, Devkinandan Jain Sangh in Naranpura and Ambli Jain Sangh.
The AMTS religious bus service, originally planned for the Shravan and Paryushan period, will remain suspended for four days and resume on September 11.
