The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has significantly reduced the charges for tree trimming in private housing societies to encourage residents to use civic services and prevent green waste from being dumped on public roads.
Earlier, residents had to pay ₹700 per tree for trimming services, which often discouraged them from using the facility. Under the revised charges, the cost has been reduced to just ₹100 per tree.
The AMC has also introduced a low-cost system for collecting and disposing of the branches and green waste generated during tree trimming. The charge for collecting one tractor-load of green waste has been fixed at ₹150.
The civic body hopes the reduced rates will make tree-trimming services more accessible to residents while discouraging the dumping of branches and garden waste on roads. The move is also expected to help improve cleanliness and reduce pollution caused by improperly disposed green waste.
