Beneficiaries of various housing schemes under the Gujarat Gram Gruh Nirman Board can now get more time to avail themselves of a 100% waiver on penalty interest on their outstanding principal instalments.
The scheme applies to beneficiaries of housing projects constructed under the hire-purchase system, including EWS, LIG, MIG, Competitive (Composite) and Cash Loan housing schemes.
According to the Gujarat Gram Gruh Nirman Board, 22 recovery camps were organised across districts during the first phase of the scheme. A total of 2,988 beneficiaries deposited ₹10.57 crore towards the outstanding principal amount.
As a result, beneficiaries received a total penalty interest waiver of ₹39.51 crore, and loan exemption certificates were issued to all eligible beneficiaries who cleared their dues under the scheme.
Considering the convenience of citizens, the state government has now extended the 100% penalty interest waiver scheme until January 31, 2027.
The board has urged eligible beneficiaries to make the most of the extended deadline and clear their outstanding principal dues to avail the waiver.
