Ahmedabad Police have taken action against a 24-year-old man who allegedly drove a Porsche at high speed and in a dangerous manner on city roads while making an Instagram reel. Navrangpura Police traced the driver within hours, seized the car and registered a case for reckless driving.
Dashcam Video Leads to Police Complaint
The incident reportedly occurred on August 22 when a youth named Shreyansh was travelling from HCG Hospital towards Law Garden. A Porsche allegedly overtook him at high speed, raising fears of an accident.
The incident was captured on Shreyansh’s car dashcam. He submitted the footage to the police and filed a complaint. The video later went viral on social media, prompting Navrangpura Police to investigate the vehicle using its registration number.
Driver Traced Through CCTV
Police teams from Navrangpura Police Station and Law Garden Police Post examined CCTV footage from the area and traced the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Mohammad Akran, a resident of Limbdia in Gandhinagar district. Police reportedly detained him within hours and brought him to the police station along with the Porsche.
Driver Allegedly Admitted Driving at 110 kmph
According to police, Akran contacted the complainant after the complaint was filed and allegedly identified himself as a pilot. He reportedly admitted that he was driving the Porsche at around 110 kmph during the incident and allegedly pressured Shreyansh to withdraw the complaint.
Police are also investigating another viral video allegedly showing the same car being driven at around 300 kmph.
Porsche Seized, Legal Action Initiated
Navrangpura Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the law and the Motor Vehicles Act for allegedly driving dangerously on a public road.
The Porsche used in the alleged stunt has been seized as part of the investigation. Police are examining the viral videos, CCTV footage and other evidence to determine the full circumstances of the incident.
