Two chartered accountants allegedly got into a physical altercation during the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s (ICAI) CFO Elevate 2.0 event at GIFT City Club in Gandhinagar. The dispute reportedly began over an old disagreement linked to a Central Council election.
One of the CAs, 51-year-old Bishan Shah, suffered a head injury and required three stitches. He later approached Dabhoda Police Station and filed a complaint alleging assault and threats.
Argument Over Previous Election
According to the complaint, the incident took place after the event when Shah, a resident of Memnagar who has an office in Navrangpura, was standing on the second-floor balcony of the club.
At the time, Purushottam Khandelwal, a Shahibaug resident and Central Council member, allegedly approached him. The two reportedly began arguing over a previous Central Council election.
The dispute was reportedly linked to allegations that Shah had not supported Khandelwal during the earlier election.
Verbal Argument Escalates
The disagreement allegedly turned into a heated verbal exchange. Shah claimed in his complaint that Khandelwal then assaulted him during a physical altercation.
According to Shah, his leg was pulled during the scuffle, causing him to fall. He suffered a head injury and later required three stitches.
Shah also alleged that he was threatened with serious consequences following the incident.
