Contractors carrying out road construction and repair work in Ahmedabad will now have to display an information plaque at every project site. Failure to do so could result in their payments being withheld by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
The decision was taken by the AMC Roads and Buildings Committee to improve transparency and help residents get details about ongoing road projects.
What Must Be Mentioned on the Plaque?
According to committee chairman Jainik Vakil, the mandatory plaque will have to include:
- Details of the road project
- Guarantee or defect liability period
- Contractor’s contact number
- AMC’s toll-free helpline number
The plaque must remain at the site until the work is completed.
Photos and Videos Also Mandatory
Contractors will also be required to upload photographs and videos of the completed road work on the AMC website.
Officials said the move is aimed at making contractors more accountable and providing citizens with easy access to information about road projects in their areas.
Vakil said payments to contractors will not be processed if the information plaque is damaged or goes missing during the project.
