The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) health department has sealed the Mahatma Gandhi Physiotherapy College Hostel canteen in Saijpur Bogha for operating without a valid food licence and violating several hygiene standards.
During an inspection, officials reportedly found insects in the food and noted poor hygiene conditions at the canteen. The establishment also failed to produce mandatory medical fitness certificates for food handlers, pest-control records and water quality reports.
The action was taken during inspections of eight school and college canteens across Ahmedabad. These included canteens at Sattva School, SGVP School, Som-Lalit School, Vedant International School, Narayana Business School, DAV International School, Anand Niketan School and the LJ Campus.
The AMC has intensified inspections of educational institution canteens to ensure that food is prepared and served under proper hygiene and safety standards.
