The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed 13 eateries for encroaching on footpaths and road margin spaces along the stretch from Mansi Circle to Vastrapur Lake.
According to civic officials, the eateries had placed tables and chairs on public spaces, obstructing pedestrian movement and making it difficult for people to use the footpaths.
The AMC also collected an administrative charge of ₹1.55 lakh from eight eateries during the action.
The civic body said such drives are being carried out to keep footpaths and public spaces clear and ensure safe movement for pedestrians. It warned that establishments found encroaching on public areas will face strict action.
The AMC reiterated its commitment to keeping the city’s walkways free from illegal obstructions.
