The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has started planning four new flyovers and bridges at major traffic-prone junctions to ease congestion and improve traffic movement across the city.
The proposed projects are planned at Alkapuri, Sussen Circle, Soma Talav Circle and Gotri Yash Complex Circle. The civic body has begun preparing designs and preliminary cost estimates for the projects.
Alkapuri bridge to tackle traffic and waterlogging
The proposed Alkapuri bridge is expected to help ease traffic congestion near the railway station and Circuit House. It could also address waterlogging problems at Alkapuri Garnala during the monsoon.
VMC has started the process of obtaining the necessary permission from the Railway Department for the project.
Bridges planned at three more junctions
A bridge at Soma Talav Circle is being planned to ease traffic for vehicles entering the city from the highway. Similar projects are proposed at Sussen Circle and Gotri Yash Complex Circle, where traffic volumes have increased in recent years.
Six other bridges already under construction
The new proposals come as work on six other bridges is already underway in Vadodara. The bridge on Sama-Savli Road is expected to be completed by January 2027, while the remaining five projects are likely to be completed by December 2027.
Through these projects, the VMC aims to expand the city’s network of flyovers and bridges and reduce pressure on major roads.
Once completed, the proposed bridges are expected to improve connectivity and provide smoother movement for motorists at some of Vadodara’s busiest traffic junctions.
