The Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s food branch conducted surprise inspections across all four zones of the city to check food quality and hygiene standards.
During the inspection, officials found unhygienic conditions at Hariom Kathiyawadi restaurant on Sama-Savli Road and immediately shut the establishment.
The inspection team found stale gram and gravy stored in the restaurant’s refrigerator. The food items, which could pose a health risk, were destroyed on the spot. Dirt was also found in the food storage area.
Taking serious note of the poor hygiene and storage conditions, the food branch sealed the restaurant and issued a notice to its operator.
The civic body’s food branch is also checking restaurants and food establishments for the use or sale of banned or substandard analogue paneer, cheese and butter across Vadodara.
