The Gujarat Police has ordered immediate steps to improve the 112 emergency response service after concerns were raised over delays in reaching people in some areas.
Gujarat Police Chief DGP G S Malik held a review meeting with district police chiefs, police commissioners and other senior officers on Tuesday to assess the functioning of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112.
During the meeting, officials discussed issues related to the availability of emergency vehicles and response times. In some areas, there were not enough vehicles, while some 112 emergency vans were unable to reach incidents on time.
The DGP directed officials to ensure that sufficient police vehicles and drivers are available. He also ordered that vehicles that are off-road or not functioning be repaired immediately.
Officials were further instructed to closely monitor response times and take steps to reduce delays so that citizens receive police assistance as quickly as possible during emergencies.
