The Gujarat government has increased the annual family income limit for students from unreserved categories seeking education loans for higher studies abroad.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the decision on the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day. Under the overseas education loan scheme of the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economic Development Corporation (GUEEDC), the annual family income ceiling has been increased from ₹6 lakh to ₹10 lakh.
The move is aimed at helping more students from unreserved communities access financial assistance for higher education overseas. The government said financial limitations should not stop young people from pursuing their dreams of studying abroad.
With the revised income criteria, more eligible students from economically weaker families are expected to benefit from the scheme and pursue higher education in foreign countries.
