A Gujarat College student was allegedly assaulted by a group of ABVP workers on the college campus on Wednesday over an old rivalry. The victim suffered a head injury after reportedly being beaten by 5–7 people and had to receive three stitches.
A video of the incident has also surfaced on social media.According to police, the injured student, Dhruvrajsinh Solanki, a B.Sc. Semester 5 student originally from Godhra and currently living in Amraiwadi, was sitting with friends near Nehru Hall on the college campus when the accused allegedly approached him.
The complaint states that ABVP workers, including Prince Desai, R.B. Mudhva, Ram, and a few unidentified persons, allegedly attacked him without any argument. During the assault, Dhruvrajsinh reportedly fell, struck his head against a wall, and suffered serious bleeding injuries.
Students and bystanders rushed to help after seeing him injured and informed the police control room. A team from Ellisbridge Police reached the spot and shifted the student to a hospital, where doctors treated him and gave him three stitches for a deep head wound.
Based on the victim’s complaint, Ellisbridge Police have registered a case against the named accused and others involved. Further investigation is underway.
The incident has raised concerns about student safety on the Gujarat College campus and sparked debate over violence linked to student organisations. Many students have demanded strict action against those responsible and stronger security measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in educational institutions.
