A fake soap and face wash manufacturing racket operating in Behrampura, Ahmedabad, has been busted by the police. During a joint raid with officials of a reputed cosmetics company, police seized counterfeit products worth over Rs 11.68 lakh.
Man Arrested
Police arrested Mohammad Junaid Patel, a resident of Danilimda, for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake soap and face wash using the trademark and logo of a well-known cosmetics company. The accused reportedly marketed the counterfeit products under his own ‘KISRA’ brand label, misleading customers.
Raid Conducted After Complaint
The action followed a complaint filed by Jaydeep Bhatti, a trademark and copyright protection officer with Pune-based Yami Ghar Shop Pvt. Ltd. The company had received information that duplicate products bearing its brand name and logo were being sold in the market.Based on the complaint and a tip-off, police raided a godown at Bhati Compound on Sikandar Market Road in Behrampura.
During the operation, they caught the accused and recovered 3,894 fake soap bars worth Rs 3.89 lakh and 6,490 fake face wash units worth Rs 7.78 lakh.In total, police seized counterfeit products and packaging materials worth more than Rs 11.68 lakh. A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
