The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday kept the benchmark repo rate unchanged at 5.25%, maintaining the status quo after the conclusion of the Monetary Policy Committee’s (MPC) three-day meeting.
Announcing the policy decision, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said the six-member MPC had unanimously voted to retain the repo rate under the Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) at 5.25% after reviewing the evolving domestic and global macroeconomic and financial conditions.
The central bank also left the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) rate unchanged at 5%, while the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate remained at 5.5%. The MPC decided to continue with its neutral policy stance, indicating that future decisions will remain data-driven.
